Wheel Speed Calculator — Wheel RPM from Road Speed
Calculate how fast your wheels spin at any road speed.
How We Calculate This
Wheel RPM Formula
Wheel RPM = (Speed in m/s) / (Wheel Circumference in m) x 60
First, speed is converted from km/h to metres per second. Then it is divided by the wheel circumference to get rotations per second, multiplied by 60 for RPM.
Frequently Asked Questions
Wheel RPM is needed for setting up bike computers, calibrating speed sensors, and understanding drivetrain behaviour at different speeds.
At 30 km/h with 700x25c tyres, wheels spin at about 237 RPM or roughly 4 rotations per second.
Higher tyre pressure slightly reduces tyre deformation, marginally decreasing the effective circumference. The effect on wheel RPM is very small (less than 1%).
