Distance Calculator — Cycling Distance from Speed & Time
Work out how far you'll ride at a given speed and time.
How We Calculate This
Distance Formula
Distance = Speed x Time
Enter your average speed in km/h and your ride duration. The calculator multiplies speed by time (in hours) to give distance in kilometres, then converts to miles.
Frequently Asked Questions
At a typical recreational pace of 20 km/h you will cover 20 km. Club riders at 28 km/h cover 28 km. It depends on your fitness, terrain and conditions.
Build distance gradually, adding 10% per week. Eat and drink regularly on rides over 90 minutes. Ensure your bike fits well to avoid fatigue.
The formula uses average speed, so it accounts for hills if your average speed already reflects the terrain. For planning, reduce your expected average speed by 2-5 km/h for hilly routes.
